Albion Stone tops the Responsible Sourcing League Table
There is a continuing focus on the environmental performance of building products. The BES 6001 Responsible Sourcing of Construction Products, enables suppliers to the construction industry ensure and then prove that their products have been responsibly sourced. The standard sets out a framework for the organisational governance, supply chain management and environmental and social aspects must be addressed in order to obtain the responsible sourcing of construction products. Independent, third party assessment and certification against the requirements of BES 6001 then give the organisation the ability to prove that an effective system for ensuring responsible sourcing exists and adds credibility to any claims made.
At Albion Stone we have just completed our second assessment and this time to the new, more challenging matrix. We have secured an 'excellent' score in the first section and a 'very good' in the second giving us an impressive 'Very Good' rating overall. The scores are now recorded by the BRE into a table showing how your products compare with others in your sector http://bit.ly/1FYL0pB We are delighted to report that we have the highest score in the Stone Section.
We aim to improve on this score next time. We are already nearing the conclusion of the ISO 18001 certification and this together with improvements in some of the external verification of our figures will hopefully mean that we will achieve the coveted ‘Excellent’ standard.
