Scope of Project:
Construction of office block with residential apartments

Following the total demolition of the previous buildings at the site of 14-18 Great Marlborough Street, plans were submitted in 1992 to the City of Westminster Planning Department for a new office development.

These met with approval and were granted. However, following the granting of the planning application the plans were revised, and another application was submitted in 1997 which increased the size of the development to include residential accommodation alongside the commercial office space.

The Architect specified a good quality Portland Stone for this large prestigious building. After reviewing the Portland beds available, and having completed a previous project using Portland Stone, selected Independent Whitbed and Bowers Basebed for the project due to its aesthetics, durability and contrast with brickwork on the facia.
