Merrill Lynch European HQ

London EC1

Architect/Designer:
Swanke Hayden Connell
Client:
Merrill Lynch
Main Contractor:
Grants of Shoreditch
Portland Stone:
Admiralty Roach
Scope of Project:
Construction of new European head office for Merrill Lynch.

The new Headquarters are situated near St Paul’s Cathedral and Paternoster Square. Portland Stone was therefore incorporated into the design to be empathetic with the surrounding buildings.

To create an open feel to ground floor courtyard, the architects selected a light coloured Portland Stone, Admiralty Roach to reflect the light under the covered walk ways and give a feeling of a large space and a tranquil area.

The large plate glass windows on the ground floor also give a light airy feeling to the offices and public spaces.
