Restoration and renovation of lighthouse visitor centre

The Architect, Nigel Carter of Bremner & Orr approached Albion Stone to assist in the renovation of the Portland Light House Visitor Centre.

Albion Stone donated two large blocks to the centre, one as a plinth and one as a base for a Corinthian Capital.

Weymouth College skilfully carved the Corinthian Capital Stone at no cost to the project in return for blocks from Albion Stone for future college work.

Albion stone also donated a selection of Portland stone samples to create a stone montage in the foyer along with various fossils, and external traffic calming blocks.

The Centre was officially opened by His Royal Highness Prince Philip in July 1999 and since then the visitor numbers have steadily increased.
