Albion Stone are one of the "Official Suppliers' of WorldSkills London 2011 and have supplied practice sample stones all over the world as well as delivering stones to the actual event at ExCel which takes place from 5-8 October 2011. The stone supplied consists of practice carving stones and stones for the final competition.
WorldSkills London 2011 is the world's largest international skills competition, and it is coming to the UK for the first time in 20 years. 1,000 young people from 50 countries/regions across the globe competing in 45 skills areas, each of them hoping to be recognised as the best in the world at what they do.
Visitors will be able to 'Have a Go' at a range of skills and trades on display in the competitions, from hairdressing to landscape gardening, mobile robotics to stonemasonry and mechatronics to graphic design. In and around the Competition, visitors will also be able to watch a range of inspirational and entertaining Showcase performances, as over 100 colleges, from around the UK, show off the world-class skills of their staff and students. There will be a demonstration in Stonemasonry at the show.
Vince Cable, speaking on 23rd May 2011 at the first in a series of WorldSkills events in advance of the WorldSkills London 2011 competition in October, said:
