Albion Stone were once again successful at the Natural Stone Awards on Friday 2nd December 2016.
The Awards recognise the excellence of design in natural stone projects from across the industry.
It provides a chance for the industry to showcase the wide range of applications possible with natural stone and to demonstrate that it is still the ideal building material, providing architects, designers and clients with a sustainable, durable and attractive end product.
Albion Stone won a ‘Special Award’ for a new Oratory in the south of England, designed by Craig Hamilton Architects, which used Jordans Basebed & Jordans Whitbed.
The judges said: “This is one of the finest examples of modern day stonemasonry and proof that the standards of the past years can still be met. This building is a traditional load bearing masonry construction, executed to the highest standards.”
Albion Stone also received a ‘Commendation’ on the Korean War Memorial in London for ‘carving, lettering and sculpture’ and was designed by Donald Insall Associates. The memorial is an inscribed and carved obelisk and made from Jordans Basebed. The judges felt that this was a simple, elegant scheme with the sort of quiet reverence associated with war memorials in London.
