Encouraging women in the stone stone industry

yasmin female engineeringYasmin, one of our Stone Detailers, attended the Female Civil Engineering day this Wednesday at the University of the West of England, Bristol. 

The aim was to bring together all female civil engineering students from the eight south west universities: UWE, Bristol, Bath, Exeter, Plymouth, Cardiff, Swansea, S Wales for the large event.

The aim of the event was to inspire and encourage future female engineers. A number of leading female engineers attended for the morning to talk about their personal experience and how to become a successful engineer. There was a range of optional small group activities in the afternoon ranging from engineering topics, hands on building tasks, Clifton Suspension Bridge, stonemasonry and personal development.

Yasmin said: “I had a brilliant day at the Female Civil Engineering event at Bristol University. A real privilege being asked to attend and tell the girls a little bit about myself and the processes of our factory at Albion Stone.”
