This particular project was highly commended in the new build modern category at the Natural Stone Awards, 2014.
Grosvenor Street is located in the centre of Mayfair’s Conservation Area. The project’s priority was to ensure the Georgian characteristics of the building were restored and the aesthetics of the new building are in keeping with its current surroundings. Prior to the project, the previous building was considered unsafe for occupation, however, following the completion of the project the Georgian building is now seen as one of the most admirable commercial spaces.
Designed by Architect Tim Sheridan from Squire and Partners who have worked historically with Albion Stone commented,
‘We chose two varieties of Portland stone from Albion Stone for this Mayfair project-the first a fine textured Jordan's Whitbed which ties into the surrounding streetscape, coupled with a coarser Bower's Roach featuring shell fragments and fossil voids, which adds a layer of natural rustication to spandrels that highlight the horizontal lines of the building.'
