This project was awarded Highly Commended in the Craftsmanship category at the Natural Stone Awards 2006.
The official guide said, 'As the last surviving gateway to the City of London and being attributed to Christopher Wren, Temple Bar is of considerable historic significance, so replacing the heraldic sculptures that had been lost was sensitive and involved extensive research in the Guildhall library.
First there were drawings, then models and finally carvings full of energy and vigour that match as far possible the style and grandeur of Temple Bar.'
The judges commented, 'The carving of replacement stone is of a very high order, respecting the iconography of the original building.'
