Four new beach huts and a stunning trio of Portland Stone shell sculptures by Phil Bews and Diane Govin are the focal point of the new Seaside Garden at Flaghead Chine.

The garden offers young visitors the opportunity for sensory & quiet play, and creates an inspirational meeting point.

The works are part of a £6.6m investment in Poole’s seafront, which was partly funded by a grant from the government’s Coastal Communities Fund and partner organisations, and co-ordinated by Dorset Coast Forum.

The bespoke Portland Stone ‘shells’ which feature a Whelk, Ammonite & Sea Urchin, were designed by sculptor Phil Bews, and form a memorable landmark at the entrance to the Chine.

Albion Stone supplied 2.133m³ of Portland Jordans Whitbed for the shell sculptures.

The garden was officially opened on the 11th July 2018.
