Natural Stone is a low carbon product, so the transportation of the stone has a major impact on the carbon footprint. Our mines are all located within a mile of the factory site, so the carbon emissions are minimal. We seek to maximise the loads on each pallet and lorry and all packaging is recyclable.
Make Architects have conducted a study for embodied carbon of transportation
The majority of our staff live within 3 miles of the operations, and we offer a ride to work scheme, so the impact of staff transport is very low. We encourage staff when visiting other site and projects and visitors to tour operations to use public transport where possible and share vehicles when that is not possible.
Our objectives include:
a. Replacement of all staff company vehicles and operational vehicles with electrically powered vehicles as they become available.
b. Investigate biofuels as a replacement of diesel as an interim measure.
