Another year has flown by and this meant the Natural Stone Awards were upon us. On Friday 5th December, 2014 the 17th year of the Natural Stone Awards took place in London.
We are very pleased to announce that we received one of only 12, coveted awards at the Mineral Product Association’s (MPA) Health & Safety Conference in London on 4th November. The MPA has 480 members and these awards attracted 150 entries, so we are immensely proud of our Portland team for winning the ‘MPA Special Award for companies with less than 100 employees’, in the face of so much competition.

Tom Whitehead, Portland stone masonry apprentice at Albion Stone, secures Gold in the UK Masonry Skills Challenge organised by Stone Federation GB. After topping the English/Welsh heats, Tom Whitehead went on to win the national finals.
Portland stone projects supplied to by Albion Stone have won at this years Natural Stone Awards, hosted by the Stone Federation GB. Winning projects were selected for their exemplary design and the selection and execution of the stonework.
One of Albion Stone's Portland stone masons has received the HRH Duke of Gloucester 'Improver Mason' award. Damien Briggs has developed his craft in stone masonry and demonstrated a high degree of skill in his everyday masonry work.
Portland stone mason, Steven Woodward, narrowly missed first prize and came second in the SkillBuild National Final last week. The competition encourages young apprentices to compete to be the best in their field.
