Albion Stone supplies Grove for London Bench Competition

Once again Albion Stone have supplied stone for the Stone Bench Student Design Competition, a competition for architectural students which is organised annually by the City of London Corporation.

Chris Dove and Craig Mitchell, two architectural students from Liverpool, won this year's competition which was carved out of Albion Stone's Grove Whitbed. The bench was unveiled by the Sherriff of the City of London near to St Pauls Cathedral last month.

Situated in Cheapside, the student's design was made and installed by Sam Elgar and Ed Shaw who recently completed their three year apprenticeship, training at stonemasonry company CWO Ltd.

Barrie Thomas, represented Albion Stone at the bench unveiling and said that 'we are proud to supply stone for this competition as it promotes the use of natural stone in modern architecture and encourages the next generation of architects to continue to use this most sustainable of materials'.
