Steve Harris has visited Jordans Mine to hear about how the Green paper can help to protect the name 'Portland Stone'. Currently geographical protection is only available for things like food and drink. Theres a Green paper on the table in Europe which recommends rolling that out into non-agricultural products.
The green paper, if adopted, will seek to protect non-agricultural products such as natural stone, to the same level that is currently enjoyed by agricultural products such as champagne.
