Renovation of retained Portland Stone façade and construction of new elevation in Portland stone.
8 Finsbury Circus is situated in the heart of London’s financial district. Wilkinson Eyre Architects were appointed for the redevelopment of the former River Plate House. Portland stone was specified for both the internal and external stonework package.
The external package consisted of new Portland Jordans Whitbed stone and bronze facades, detailed in a contemporary manner and the cleaning and restoration of existing stonework.
The internal element features a wall of stunning of illuminated Portland Grove Whitbed panels.
Albion Stone supplied approximately 2,270m² of Portland Stone. The building has achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating.
The project has received several awards, including the RIBA National Award, City of London Building of the Year, New London Awards, Best Office Project, BCO Best Commercial Workplace London which is reflective of the client’s desire to create an “exemplary” new office building within this historic setting.
