Stone Fixing Contractor:
Scope of Project:
58-storey tower comprising of 484 apartments and penthouses
One Wood Wharf designed by Herzog & de Meuron and standing 205m tall, this building was designed to be the landmark structure within the expansion of Canary Wharf. The bottom 2 floors of this 58 storey tower are clad with Jordans Whitbed Portland stone. Albion Stone at our modern Portland factory fabricated almost 1000 bespoke curved radial pieces to form the façade to the main entrances. Each of these pieces of stone which are curved both internally and externally to tight tolerances align exactly with the soffits which hang in excess of 1 metre from the structure. These four quadrants to the building form the main entrance and showcase the beauty of natural local Portland stone, its heritage and the beauty of the material integrated into a modern design.
Eiregramco working with 3 Dimensional Revit to design and produce fabrication drawings used their Eclad Stone support system to reduce the weight of the stone along with allowing for maximum tolerance, flexibility and speed of install. This lightened the load on the structure and allowed the stone to align perfectly. All this coordination was carried out in conjunction with a highly skilled team at Canary Wharf Contractors.
This development has already picked up 2 awards at the 2021 International Property Awards in the best apartment and residential category as a well as an outstanding quality Award by the NHBC. A great example of the fusion of modern architectural design and local heritage Portland stone.
