Albion Stone has launched a new online Portland Stone slab stock system, making it quicker and easier than ever for customers to source and purchase natural Portland Stone slabs directly from its Portland factory.

Over recent months, Albion Stone has been developing a streamlined solution that gives customers instant access to available slab stock, reducing lead times and simplifying the purchasing process. While the company continues to work closely with MGLW as its longstanding London slab stockist, the new system provides customers throughout the UK with a direct route to view and reserve available Portland Stone slabs.

The new online stock page allows customers to browse live slab availability, view individual slabs, select the specific slabs they require and submit an enquiry directly to Albion Stone. Once an enquiry is received, the selected slabs are reserved for up to seven days, giving customers time to finalise their purchase with confidence.

By putting real time stock information directly into customers' hands, the new platform removes much of the uncertainty traditionally associated with sourcing natural stone. Architects, designers, stonemasons, contractors and private clients can now see exactly what is available and choose the precise slabs they wish to purchase, creating a faster, more transparent and stress free buying experience.

Designed for Speed

To support this enhanced service, Albion Stone has invested in a new gantry crane at its Portland factory and completely reorganised its slab storage operation. All stocked slabs are now stored upright beneath the crane, enabling rapid access, handling and packing.

Unlike bespoke slab orders, which need to be scheduled and processed through production, stocked slabs are immediately available for purchase. Once payment has been completed, slabs can be prepared for collection or delivery significantly faster than before, helping customers receive their stone in record time.

The launch forms part of Albion Stone's ongoing commitment to making Portland Stone more accessible across the UK. By holding slabs in stock rather than producing them solely against bespoke orders, the company has been able to substantially reduce lead times while also offering more competitive pricing.

Because stock slabs are produced in advance and held ready for sale, they represent a significantly more economical option compared with bespoke slab production. Customers can therefore benefit from both improved availability and lower costs without compromising on the quality for which Portland Stone is renowned.

Growing Stock Across All Portland Stone Beds

The initial focus has been on building stock levels of Albion Stone's popular Jordans Basebed, with slab inventories now also being expanded across Stonehills Whitbed, Jordans Whitbed and Heritage Portland Stone. Stock levels continue to grow each week, with the long term objective of maintaining substantial quantities across all major beds of Portland Stone.

Visitors to the website can now view live inventory, select their preferred slabs, add them to an enquiry basket and choose their preferred collection or delivery option before submitting their request directly to the sales team.

Investing in the Future

The new slab stock system represents the first stage of a significant long term investment programme. Albion Stone's current gantry crane covers more than 1,000m² of slab storage area, creating a dedicated facility for rapid slab handling and fulfilment.

To meet growing demand and increase stock capacity, a second gantry crane is scheduled for installation before the end of this year, with a third planned for 2027. Once complete, the company's slab storage operation will provide more than 3,000m² of gantry crane coverage, allowing Albion Stone to hold substantial stocks across all of its Portland Stone beds.

This investment will create one of the UK's most extensive Portland Stone slab stocking facilities, giving customers immediate access to a wider range of material and further reducing lead times.
