With a workforce of 80 employees, Albion Stone reinforces its position as a leading supplier of British natural stone by highlighting the scale, efficiency and flexibility of its factory operations, underlining its ability to deliver multiple complex projects simultaneously.
At the heart of this capability is a tightly integrated supply chain. Albion Stone’s Jordans/Bowers Mine is located less than 1 kilometre from the factory, while the Stonehills Mine sits within 2 kilometres. This proximity ensures a steady and reliable flow of fresh material into production every day. Alongside this daily supply, the company maintains an extensive reserve of more than 26,000m3 of block stone in stock, effectively eliminating any risk of supply disruption to ongoing projects.
The company’s 6,200m2 factory has been designed to support high volume and highly varied production. Within the facility, Albion Stone operates eight primary saws, including three Grani Roc single wire saws, a Benetti Fast Belt, a five wire Pellegrini and a five axis Breton Fuego CNC wire saw. This combination of machinery enables the factory to process a wide range of block sizes and produce multiple thicknesses concurrently, ensuring that different project requirements can be handled at the same time without compromise.
Complementing this primary cutting capability are six secondary saws, four of which are CNC machines equipped with twin tool changers and a lathe system. These advanced machines allow for the efficient production of intricate architectural elements, including complex columns and detailed profiles. In addition, a Breton Ashlar line further strengthens the factory’s versatility, making it possible to manufacture everything from finely detailed Corinthian capitals to straightforward ashlar stone across a variety of production lines.
Albion Stone has also invested in specialist equipment to enhance productivity and precision. A dedicated lathe is capable of producing four balusters simultaneously, increasing output while maintaining consistent quality. Supporting this machinery is a skilled workforce of eight highly qualified stonemasons, who provide the expertise to either refine CNC produced pieces or craft complex stonework directly from raw block material.
A key feature of the facility is its loadbearing shed, which enables the construction of full storey height panels indoors. Operating under crane, this setup allows for exceptional accuracy during assembly and provides the added advantage of loading finished components directly onto lorries from within the factory. This not only improves efficiency but also protects products throughout the handling and dispatch process.
Together, these investments demonstrate Albion Stone’s commitment to combining traditional craftsmanship with advanced manufacturing techniques. The scale of the factory, the breadth of machinery and the strength of the supply chain provide the capacity to deliver a wide range of projects simultaneously, from detailed heritage work to large scale contemporary developments.
This comprehensive approach ensures that project teams can have full confidence in Albion Stone’s ability to meet demanding specifications, maintain consistent quality and deliver on time, regardless of project size or complexity.
